DRINK THE WINE SLOWLY © 2005 Dan Hocott (BMI) |
When first you meet The wine is sweet, Ripe and red like the youth that you are But She bites and stings As your heart takes wing And settles its gaze on the stars.
But some stars will fall And you may lose all, With eyes flaming like rubies you’ll rage, Till you come to know You must take love slow And give Her the time to age.
Drink the wine slowly For Love, She is holy, So crimson, so sweet to the taste. Whether young or old, Whether warm or cold, (Whether shy or bold,) Love must never be courted in haste.
Drink the wine slowly For each sip is holy, And time can leave no man alone. And if you are blest With Love’s sweet caress, Then take Her, And make Her your own. |
